In some cases, steel structures and equipment have increased requirements for heat resistance, a tendency to form corrosion and other protective parameters. High alloy steels enable compliance with most of them. These include alloys, the composition of the alloying components in which is at least 10 percent. Since the introduction of alloying elements makes significant changes in the chemical properties of steel, any kind of work with it requires taking this feature into account. Welding structures consisting of alloys with a high content of alloying components requires careful selection of welding electrodes.

Alloying elements, along with improving the protective properties of steel, introduce certain difficulties in the conduct of welding, in particular, the emergence of the possibility of carbidation and intergranular corrosion. In addition, high alloy steels are very sensitive to overheating, and therefore must be processed in a gentle temperature mode and using electrodes for welding of reduced length. As practice shows, the longer the arc, the higher the likelihood of undesirable phenomena during welding. With the introduction of high alloy steel into production, intensive development of components for effective work with it began. Currently, high-quality welding electrodes are available on the market, designed specifically for steel with a high content of alloying elements.
