The group of electrodes for welding heat-resistant steels includes grades intended for welding low-alloy and alloyed heat-resistant steels (heat-resistant steels are called steels operating at elevated temperatures - up to 550-600 °C). The main characteristics are the chemical composition of the weld metal and the mechanical properties of the weld metal at normal temperature. When choosing electrodes, the maximum working temperature is also taken into account, at which the long-term strength parameters of the weld metal are regulated.

According to GOST 9467-75, grades for welding heat-resistant steels according to the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the deposited metal and weld metal are classified into nine types: E-09M, E-09MX, E-09X1M, E-05X2M, E-09X2M1, E-09X1MF , E-10X1M1NFB, E-10X3M1BF, E-10X5MF. Brands may have rutile and basic coatings. In most cases, heat-resistant steels are welded with preheating and subsequent heat treatment.
